10PRINTed (2018-)

The 10PRINTed series of artworks is inspired by the classic “10PRINT” algorithm, which was one of the earliest and simplest algorithms that was used to create generative artwork. Each time the code is run, it randomly chooses either a forward slash “/” or a backward slash “\” to print to the screen, resulting in a complex, labyrinthine image. The 10PRINTed series uses the original algorithm as a foundation and explores its possibilities by incorporating various other functions, while still retaining the simplicity of the original algorithm. The 10PRINT algorithm also reflects the binary choices that form the foundations of computation, which the 10PRINTed series takes up by imagining the forms this binary may take, and what it may accomplish in its repetition.
